THE CHAPERONE When Mr. Krab's daughter Pearl is stood up for her prom, it's SpongeBob to the rescue. Giving himself a makeover, SpongeBob becomes her 'tall, dark and handsome' date. But his looks don't help prevent one catastrophe after another at Pearl's prom, where her only wish was to make it through the night with her social status in tact. BUBBLE BUDDY SpongeBob's lonely when Patrick and Sandy are away, so he creates Bubble Buddy. He takes his new pal everywhere, stopping at the Krusty Krab for a bite and leaving a 'bubble money' tip for Squidward that goes 'pop'. But it's Bubble Buddy's 2-hour stay in the only bathroom at Goo Lagoon that gets the crowd so mad, they vow to pop him! YOUR SHOE'S UNTIED Patrick gets a new pair of shoes and asks SpongeBob to teach him how to tie his laces. But SpongeBob forgets how! He becomes so upset that he can barely make it through his day, especially since his own shoes are now untied and he keeps falling over the laces! It's going to take someone special to help this sponge regain his confidence. Meow. PRE-HIBERNATION WEEK With one week to go before she starts hibernating, Sandy asks SpongeBob to spend this final week awake with her. But SpongeBob can't keep up, so he hides to avoid her. Fearing SpongeBob's missing, Sandy recuits everyone in Bikini Bottm to help on her "sponge search".

Today's proms have gone upscale; no longer held in the high school gym, many schools hold their proms at luxury hotels, complete with full banquet facilities and professional entertainment. Students arrive in limousines, dance the night away in rented tuxes and skin-tight sheaths then leave for a weekend of unsupervised activities with friends -- for many their first extended trip without parents. Amy Best interviews countless teens about their prom experiences, and she looks at popular media to understand today's teens. She finds that with the rising purchasing power of youth culture, the prom is now an industry unto itself with its own magazines, films, clothing, accessories and services. Best shows us that, while the prom is often trivialized, most kids take the prom seriously. The prom is a space where kids work through their understanding of authority, social class, gender norms and multicultural schooling. Proms are often the sight of public and personal struggle, especially for gay teens and inter-racial couples, who are often excluded from the prom. Many kids don't go to their prom or, as with gay teens, have begun organizing "alternative proms." Proms are more than just pictures and puffed sleeves -- they are a mythic part of youth culture and, for better or worse, will always be a night to remember.
